Department of Agriculture Entry-Level Jobs: No Experience Required

As a household aid, your primary responsibility will be to maintain general hygiene and safety in the food unit, which caters to students or clients. You’ll also be responsible for cleaning around the area. To qualify for this position, you’ll need to have Adult Basic Education and Training (ABET) level 2 or Grade 5.

Additionally, working knowledge in food services, preparing food, and working with industrial kitchen equipment would be advantageous. You’ll also need to be able to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays. Competencies required for the role include knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), and good safety practices. The ability to work independently as well as part of a team, excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), and the ability to work under pressure are also essential.
