Job Description:

Machine_ is seeking a Social Media Data Analyst to join their social media team in Johannesburg. The analyst will play a crucial role in leading social media analytics and reporting for the agency’s diverse portfolio of clients.

Minimum Criteria & Position Details:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in social media planning and analytics, either in an agency or client team
  • Tertiary Marketing and/or Advertising qualification, with social media certifications
  • Proven experience in interpreting data to optimize social media content
  • Strong analytical and strategic skills
  • Excellent understanding of digital and social media landscape, platforms, and performance metrics
  • Proficiency in using social media tools such as Hootsuite, Falcon, Crimson Hexagon, Brandwatch, Sprinklr, and Sprout Social
  • Ability to work well as part of a team in a high-performance, deadline-driven environment

Responsibilities:

  • Mine social data for insights that drive strategy and demonstrate ROI
  • Provide high-quality insights and recommendations to support business objectives
  • Conduct upfront strategic guidance using social listening tools and relevant research data
  • Track performance of social media outputs and implement changes to improve results
  • Support SEO strategies and optimize keywords in content marketing projects
  • Research emerging social networks and features to benefit clients
  • Create and oversee content for social media channels
  • Develop analytical, website, and social listening reports to visualize actionable insights
  • Stay updated on current events and pop culture to understand user behavior
  • Conduct competitive research and provide insights

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of social media planning and analytics experience
  • Tertiary Marketing and/or Advertising qualification
  • Social media certifications
  • Strong analytical and strategic skills
  • Curious and solution-oriented mindset
  • Ability to work well in a team and meet deadlines
