Responsibilities:

The candidate in this role will be required to assist the Senior Plant Foreman or Supervisor in monitoring the process flow in the plant to ensure optimum and safe tonnage throughput, carat recovery, equipment and resource utilization. The candidate may also be required to assist the Supervisor in collecting and analyzing plant samples. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring, reporting on and Adhering to All Safety, Health and Environmental requirements
  • Ensuring adherence and compliance to plant standards and parameters and reporting deviations.
  • Minimizing Engineering and Operational downtime.
  • Reporting plant status to relevant Foreman at all times.
  • Monitoring physical conditions and reporting deviations proactively.
  • Conducting risk assessments and communicating plant conditions to relevant Ore Processing Controllers.
  • Ensuring accurate record keeping and reporting.
  • Forming part of sectional MBA’s, SHE Management programs, and participating in Business Improvement Initiatives (i.e., RRP).
  • Taking over or handing over shifts from off or on-going operators and attending to any abnormalities first, then reporting to the supervisor and receiving further instructions.
  • Conducting physical inspections of the plant and informing the Ore Processing Foreman of any deviations and corrective action taken, including job cards for engineering-related problems.

Requirements:

To be eligible for this Mineral Processing Learnership Programme, candidates should meet the following requirements:

  • Grade 12 or relevant NQF Level 4 Qualification with Mathematics.
  • Valid EC/Code 10 Driver’s License.
  • Medical Certificate of fitness to work in the plant environment (Red or Blue area plant).
  • Polygraph testing will be conducted for Red Area positions.
  • Consideration for employment is subject to SAPS criminal record and qualification verification.

Advantageous:

  • National Certificate in Mineral Processing level 2 (Advantageous)
